Farm To School
I have worked in the farm to school landscape in 3 states over 8 years, and I am passionate about connecting students to their food and environment. Whether you are looking to start a small school garden or produce enough radishes to feed 300 hungry elementary school students, I can help with the design and build process. In addition, I can assist with facilitating classroom and school nutrition resources.
design, Build, & Facilitate
Design - Thoughtful design is imperative for school gardens. For instance, will the beds need to be accessible? Do any students have allergies to any organic fertilizers (eg. shellfish)? How do you build a garden that is easy for custodians to maintain over the summer? Is there a hand washing or first aid station? I can help with all these questions and more.
Build & Maintain - Assistance with physically building the garden, including incorporating students of any age into the process in a thoughtful and educational manner.
Facilitate - Need farm to school resources to boost garden engagement? Look no further! I can connect you to national & local sources to help your farm to school efforts, and even facilitate lesson planning and coordination with school nutrition programs.
